Greater Hartford Alliance of Black Social Workers and Metro West Massachusetts ABSW’s Black Social Work Film Festival Present: The Love Series .Using art as aneffective approach to engage attendees to watch three films that focus on three different socially relevant topics related to Black love, couple and financial health, state level residential group home models and their impact on adolescence mental health, and Black queer perspectives on manhood and mental health.
All attendees will have the option to attend one to three films created by Black filmmakers. At the end of each film, a panel with expertise will engage the attendees in scholarly research and education about key treatment approaches. Emascipation February 28th 12pm-3pm Emascipation delves into the complexities of the black male experience within the confines of traditional perceptions of black masculinity. The title itself, a fusion of "emancipation" and "masculinity," encapsulates the theme of the narrative: the fact or process of a man being set free from legal, social, or political restrictions; liberation.
